Terms of Use
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Luke Green, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom and trading as SafePhrase (“SafePhrase”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the SafePhrase app (the “Service”) you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. What SafePhrase does
SafePhrase lets a circle of trusted people share a rotating phrase that changes regularly, so you can confirm you are really speaking to one another — for example, during a phone call — and reduce the risk of impersonation scams. The phrase is generated on each member’s device.
2. Eligibility and your account
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account; accounts for younger family members should be set up and managed by a parent or guardian. You are responsible for the activity under your account and for keeping access to your device secure. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
3. Acceptable use
You agree to use SafePhrase only for its intended purpose and lawfully. You must not: impersonate others; add people to a circle without their agreement; attempt to access accounts, data or seeds that are not yours; reverse-engineer, disrupt or overload the Service; or use it to harass, deceive or harm anyone.
4. Subscriptions and payment
SafePhrase offers a free tier and paid subscriptions (currently “Plus” and “Pro”) that raise the limits on how many circles you can own and how many members a circle can have. Free accounts may create one circle of up to five members.
Subscriptions are sold through the Apple App Store and billed to your Apple ID. They renew automatically each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple ID account settings. Prices are shown in the app before purchase and may change with notice. Except where the law requires, payments are handled by Apple and subject to Apple’s terms; refunds are requested through Apple.
5. Your content and data
You keep ownership of the information you put into SafePhrase (such as circle names and display names). You grant us the limited permission needed to host and process that information to provide the Service. Our handling of personal data is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
6. Availability and changes
We aim to keep SafePhrase available and reliable, but we provide it on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We may update, change or discontinue features, and we may suspend the Service for maintenance or to protect users.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, SafePhrase is not liable for any loss arising from reliance on the Service to verify identity, for losses caused by scams or third parties, or for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (for example, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud). Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
8. Termination
You may stop using SafePhrase and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these Terms or where required to protect users or comply with the law.
9. Apple App Store terms
The app is licensed, not sold, to you. Your licence is also governed by Apple’s Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement (apple.com/legal/…/stdeula). Where these Terms and Apple’s EULA conflict in relation to your use of the app on Apple devices, Apple’s EULA applies for that purpose. Apple is not responsible for the app or its support, and Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms entitled to enforce them.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
